The UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has confirmed its complete operational readiness ahead of Eid Al Fitr, unveiling a proactive nationwide plan to ensure the uninterrupted flow of food, agricultural, and animal consignments across all entry points.

As demand rises during the festive season, the Ministry is working closely with authorities across the country to streamline import operations while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Coordinated Efforts Across Entry Points

In collaboration with local authorities, MOCCAE has deployed specialised personnel and technical resources to accelerate inspection and clearance processes. These efforts cover a wide range of essential commodities, including fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat products.

Field inspection visits were carried out at agricultural and veterinary quarantine centres to assess operational workflows, enhance efficiency, and ensure swift customs clearance procedures.

Strengthening National Food Security

His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of MOCCAE, emphasised that the Ministry’s efforts align with the UAE leadership’s vision of reinforcing national food security.

He highlighted that all border entry points are operating at peak efficiency within a fully integrated logistics system. This network serves as a critical safeguard, ensuring that all incoming consignments meet stringent safety standards while maintaining a smooth and continuous supply to local markets.

Robust Supply Chains and High Import Volumes

Between January 1 and March 18, 2026, the UAE processed 1,454 livestock consignments, totaling 441,574 animals, including sheep, goats, cattle, and camels.

These volumes, combined with the daily influx of fresh fruits and vegetables, underscore the strength and resilience of the UAE’s supply chains, ensuring that market demand is consistently met without disruption.

Efficient Import Operations for Eid

H.E. Marwan Al Zaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Regions Sector, confirmed that food import operations have been running smoothly in preparation for Eid.

Key entry points are handling large and diverse consignments daily, with field teams working around the clock to ensure quick inspection and clearance, delivering high-quality service to suppliers and stakeholders.

Strict Food Safety Protocols

Food safety remains a top priority within the UAE’s national food security framework. Despite the increased volume of imports, regulatory oversight has not been compromised.

All consignments undergo rigorous inspection procedures, including:

  • Verification of origin and documentation

  • Health certification checks

  • Detailed inspection of live animals and crops

  • Advanced laboratory testing of samples

Any non-compliant shipments are immediately rejected, ensuring only safe and high-quality products reach consumers.

Integrated Logistics and Global Sourcing

The UAE’s land, sea, and air entry points operate in complete coordination through a unified system managed by a central operations room. This enables real-time collaboration with strategic partners and authorities.

The Ministry’s strategy of diversifying import sources ensures a steady and reliable supply of food products from global markets, enhancing competitiveness while maintaining market stability.

Faster Supply Chains, Fresher Products

To improve efficiency, MOCCAE has introduced innovative mechanisms aimed at shortening domestic supply chains. These measures accelerate inspection and clearance processes, reducing the time it takes for goods to move from ports to retail shelves.

This approach not only ensures freshness and quality but also strengthens the flexibility of the UAE’s food supply system to handle demand surges during peak seasons.

Enhanced Workforce and Fast-Track Systems

In preparation for Eid Al Fitr, the Ministry has bolstered its operational capacity by increasing the number of specialised personnel, including veterinarians, agricultural engineers, and laboratory technicians.

Fast-track clearance channels have also been activated, ensuring the seamless movement of food consignments and maintaining well-stocked, stable markets across the country.

A System Built for Stability

Through strategic planning, advanced logistics, and unwavering commitment to food safety, the UAE continues to demonstrate a resilient and future-ready food supply system—ensuring that communities across the nation can celebrate Eid with confidence and abundance.
