Sobha Realty has partnered with clean energy provider Positive Zero to deploy advanced renewable energy systems at Sobha Elwood, its luxury villa community under development on Al Ain Road, Dubai.
The collaboration will see Positive Zero’s HYPR clean energy systems, including the region’s first-of-its-kind mobile Battery Energy Storage System (mBESS), power the project’s construction offices and on-site facilities.
The fume-free, noise-free mobile battery units deliver electricity precisely where it is needed across the construction site, replacing traditional diesel generators and eliminating associated fossil fuel dependency. Over the course of the two-year agreement, the HYPR system is expected to displace the equivalent of more than 30,000 gallons of diesel — enough energy to power over 25 million smartphones.
Each mobile battery unit is charged using clean, renewable solar power, delivering significantly higher efficiency compared to diesel alternatives. Batteries are seamlessly swapped in and out by Positive Zero as required, ensuring a continuous, reliable supply of electricity throughout construction. The system is expected to deliver approximately 219 MWh of clean electricity per year.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Ravi Menon, Chairman of Sobha Group, said:
“At Sobha Realty, sustainability is a fundamental pillar of how we build and how we envision the future of our communities. Our partnership with Positive Zero for Sobha Elwood marks another decisive step in integrating clean, renewable energy solutions across our developments. In alignment with the UAE Green Agenda 2030 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, this initiative reinforces our commitment to shaping communities that are world-class, future-ready, and environmentally resilient.”
Mr. David Auriau, Chief Executive Officer of Positive Zero, added:
“We are delighted to support Sobha Realty in its pioneering approach to sustainable real estate development. By adopting clean energy solutions at the construction stage, Sobha Realty is setting a clear benchmark for the industry and demonstrating how renewable energy can meaningfully reduce carbon emissions while supporting the sustainable growth of cities.”
Sobha Elwood marks the second project in which Sobha Realty has adopted Positive Zero’s HYPR clean energy systems, following the successful deployment at Sobha One. The continued collaboration reinforces Sobha Realty’s commitment to supporting Dubai’s strategic objective of reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, while embedding sustainability across every stage of development.
