ADNEC Group, a Modon company, has strengthened its commitment to sustainability by partnering with Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) to power ADNEC Centre Al Ain entirely with clean and renewable energy.
With this move, both ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi and Al Ain now operate on 100% clean energy, eliminating carbon emissions from their electricity use.
Hosting over 500 events annually, ADNEC Group is setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible event management across the region.
The agreement was officially signed during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The ceremony brought together Humaid Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC Group, and Ahmed Ali Alshamsi, CEO of EWEC, alongside senior representatives from both organisations.
This expanded collaboration marks a significant milestone in reducing the environmental impact of large-scale events hosted in Al Ain.
The transition to clean energy is a key pillar in ADNEC Group’s broader sustainability strategy. The organisation has set an ambitious target to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2045—five years ahead of the UAE’s national 2050 goal.
Leadership at ADNEC emphasised that adopting innovative and clean solutions is not only reducing their environmental footprint but also positioning the group as a global leader in sustainable events.
Under the agreement, all electricity supplied to ADNEC Centre Al Ain will come from EWEC’s renewable and clean energy sources. This supply is verified through International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC), issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Earlier, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi became the first and largest venue in the Middle East and North Africa to run بالكامل on clean energy. In April 2025, it received I-REC certification confirming zero carbon emissions from electricity use, powering 166 events entirely through renewable sources within six months.
This partnership not only strengthens the UAE’s clean energy transition but also establishes a powerful model for the global events industry. By integrating sustainability into its core operations, ADNEC Group is demonstrating how large venues can significantly reduce their carbon footprint without compromising on scale or impact.
As the demand for sustainable infrastructure grows, initiatives like this signal a transformative shift—where events are no longer just gatherings, but catalysts for a greener future.
