SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals, participated as a Principal Partner in the 44th International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center in Riyadh from February 4 to 9.

The annual international conference hosted for the first time in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region was inaugurated by HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman, Saudi Minister of Energy.

SABIC highlighted its commitment to promoting energy efficiency through the use of materials and expertise to advance the transition to carbon neutrality.

On the sidelines of the conference, SABIC had a booth showcasing the advances made by the company in energy efficiency in its operations and its shift to reaching its target of carbon neutrality by 2050.

The conference, held under the theme “Pathways to a Clean, Stable and Sustainable Energy Future,” was attended by policymakers, academics, corporate leaders, and representatives of NGOs.

The region’s leaders reiterated their commitment to taking meaningful measures to confront the challenges of climate change ahead of the UN climate change conference (COP28) scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates in November-December 2023.
