The AD Ports Group has won the Outstanding Port Management Award at the recent Sustainability Middle East Excellence Awards 2023.

The award recognises smart ports which operate with environmental impacts in mind and takes steps to mitigate these wherever possible.

AD Ports Group won the award because it systematically looks for ways to make operations sustainable, being one of the biggest drivers of non-oil-related economic growth in Abu Dhabi.

Equipped with a robust energy management system, AD Ports Group continuously monitors its energy consumption and seeks to reduce energy intensity and dependence on fossil fuels.

After winning the award, David Gatward, Chief Engineering & Technical Services Officer at Abu Dhabi Ports said: "In the ports, shipping and logistics industry, the change to sustainable fuels is the biggest issue that we are facing at the moment. Shipping lines, cruise lines, logistics businesses are all converting to sustainable fuels.

"At Abu Dhabi Ports we are embracing the electrification of the industry and are leading with our initiatives to be a green and sustainable port."Read More: Volvo Trucks Bags EV Manufacturer of the Year Award
