ROSHN Group, Saudi Arabia’s leading multi-asset class real estate developer and a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, has become the first organization in Saudi Arabia and the GCC to achieve carbon management certification for buildings and infrastructure under the PAS 2080 standard, awarded by BSI.
The independent certification underscores ROSHN Group’s commitment to embedding sustainability across its operations and aligns closely with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to enhance quality of life while strengthening environmental stewardship.
As carbon management becomes an increasingly critical global priority, Saudi Arabia has committed to reducing emissions as part of its national sustainability agenda.
In response, ROSHN Group adopted a structured and internationally recognized approach by working with BSI to implement the PAS 2080 framework, a leading global standard for managing carbon in buildings and infrastructure.
ROSHN Group undertook a comprehensive gap assessment and developed a clear implementation roadmap to integrate carbon management into day-to-day operations. This included building internal awareness, improving data availability, and aligning suppliers and contractors with defined carbon reduction objectives.
The programme was supported by continuous audits and active stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment with key performance indicators and national sustainability targets.
Following a rigorous independent assessment by BSI, ROSHN Group was awarded PAS 2080 certification—formally recognizing its leadership in carbon management and its proactive approach to reducing environmental impact across the value chain.
Commenting on the achievement, Shahm Barhom, Group Product Certification Director at BSI, highlighted the critical role of the real estate sector in the transition to net zero.
He noted that ROSHN Group’s certification demonstrates a strong commitment to integrating carbon reduction into operational decision-making and advancing sustainable infrastructure for long-term societal benefit.
PAS 2080 provides a comprehensive carbon management framework for the built environment, focusing on reducing whole-life carbon while increasing overall project value. It emphasizes leadership, collaboration across the value chain, and intelligent design and management to achieve both carbon and cost efficiencies.
The standard serves as a key reference for policymakers, designers, developers, and construction stakeholders, supporting more sustainable outcomes across the infrastructure and real estate sectors.
