Speaking at the Future of Logistics Conference Part II hosted by our sister publication Transport & Logistics Middle East, Mary Oxley, VP Markerting & Sales- MEA at DHL Global Forwarding, highlighted the fashion and consumer electronics industries as customers who were willing to pay for sustainable shipping.

Ms Oxley said that DHL Global Forwarding recently held an event in Dubai for key customers from the luxury goods industry centred around sustainable production and logistics. Many customers were “actively taking steps” towards sustainable operations and “reusing and reselling are becoming a core focus” for many industries.

According to Ms Oxley the demographics of end users are changing and “millennials are the ones willing to pay” for green shipping today.

Online shopping and reselling were also helping to reduce our carbon footprint, said Ms Oxley adding that Dubai was a great market recycling of luxury goods with customers who were conscious of the environment and “wanted to give back to society.”

DHL Global Forwarding, for its part, was doing everything possible to bring industries to together and facilitate discussion of green operations and it was only through collaboration that real solutions and innovations will be created to meet the sustainability challenge, concluded Ms Oxley.
