dnata, the global air and travel services provider, has unveiled a new high-tech, centralised screening control room at its Dubai International Airport (DXB) cargo facility in partnership with Dubai Police.

The advanced hub marks a major milestone in the digital transformation of air cargo handling, integrating automation with enhanced security oversight.

From a single command centre, Dubai Police officers can now remotely monitor and operate six X-ray screening systems. Connected to dnata’s One Cargo platform, the system enables real-time data sharing, instant workflow coordination and faster decision-making.

Guillaume Crozier, dnata’s Chief Cargo Officer, said the project reflects Dubai’s commitment to innovation and smarter cargo management. He added that the collaboration strengthens security, accelerates processes and enhances overall efficiency.

Previously, screening operations were spread across multiple locations, requiring more manpower and time. By consolidating the process into one hub, dnata expects screening times to shorten and throughput to increase by about 3% annually.

The transformation comes amid strong cargo growth. dnata handles around 60,000 tonnes of cargo monthly at DXB and recently processed more than one million tonnes across DXB and DWC between April 2024 and March 2025 — its highest-ever annual volume, representing roughly 30% growth.

The new system reduces manual intervention, optimises resource use, and cuts unnecessary cargo movement, lowering fuel consumption and boosting sustainability.

The centralised facility, jointly designed by dnata and Dubai Police, features advanced interfaces, live imaging and automated reporting for full traceability.

The project forms part of dnata’s broader innovation strategy, which includes trials with autonomous mobile robots and automated dimensioning tools to improve load planning, safety and warehouse space utilisation.
