The UAE's sustainability programme is well underway, and we eagerly await the results: Dustin Cherniawski, EnviroServe UAE Director

The UAE has witnessed major improvement in the sustainability sector over the last 12 months, than has actually occured in the last 12 years, according to Dustin Cherniawski, Director, EnviroServe UAE.

Speaking at Future of Sustainability conference hosted by Sustainability Middle East, Mr Cherniawski continued, "I do not know if the progress is because of COP28 or COP28 is because of that."

He went on to say that things have changed dramatically since EnviroServe first arrived in the UAE in 2011. The UAE's environmental rules and regulations have been established, and it is now time for enforcement.

With COP28, the Year of Sustainability, and the 'Make it in the Emirates' initiative established by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MOIAT) all happening at the same time, there isn't much to advise the government at this moment.

"I believe the UAE has a sustainability agenda in place, and we are waiting to see the results," Mr Cherniawski concluded.
