Al Tayer Meets Huawei’s New Regional President To Strengthen Strategic Collaboration

His Excellency (H.E.) Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), met Philip Gan, President of the Middle East and Central Asia at Huawei, alongside a high-level delegation from the technology company.

The meeting underscored the ongoing strategic partnership between DEWA and Huawei, focusing on accelerating digital transformation, advancing smart grid technologies, and driving sustainable innovation in line with Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050.

The Huawei delegation included Steven Yi, Huawei’s previous Regional President, and David Tao, CEO of Huawei UAE.

Representing DEWA were Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future, and Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence.

DEWA Enhances Water Management and Distribution Efficiency through Smart Systems

During the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed Gan to his new role and commended Huawei’s contributions to DEWA’s digital infrastructure and smart grid initiatives.

Discussions centered on enhancing collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cyber security, and next-generation renewable energy solutions.

Both parties reviewed progress on existing projects and explored opportunities to leverage Huawei’s cutting-edge technologies in support of DEWA’s vision to be a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation committed to achieving net zero by 2050.

Al Tayer reaffirmed DEWA’s alignment with the UAE’s ambitious national strategies, including the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and the UAE Strategy for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which aims to position the nation as a global hub for knowledge-driven, innovation-led economic growth.

Al Tayer also highlighted DEWA’s continued investments in the latest transformative technologies, which have enabled it to achieve world-class operational performance, outperforming top utilities in Europe and the United States.

Al Tayer also emphasized DEWA’s partnership with Huawei, which reflects its commitment to adopting transformative technologies that enhance operational excellence and sustainability.

As DEWA works toward Dubai’s ambitious clean energy targets, collaborations with global leaders like Huawei are critical to delivering world-class services and advancing the UAE’s net-zero goals.

DEWA looks forward to expanding joint efforts in shaping the future of smart energy and water management.

Both parties agreed to deepen cooperation in research and development, talent development, and the push to pilot emerging technologies.

The cooperation between the two sides aims to develop new technologies and solutions to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the electricity and water sectors, as well as improve user experience and provide more efficient, safe, and sustainable services.

The partnership between DEWA and Huawei also includes several future projects such as Big Data management, perimeter and ICT infrastructure security, cyber security, and information security.
