EtihadWE Signs Key MoU with ePointZero to Accelerate Clean Energy Transition in Northern Emirates
Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has entered a strategic MoU with ePointZero — a global energy-focused investment platform under the International Holding Company (IHC) — to explore next-generation power solutions that will reinforce the UAE’s clean energy ambitions.
The collaboration marks a significant step toward expanding EtihadWE’s energy portfolio to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of the power network serving the Northern Emirates.
The MoU places strong emphasis on EtihadWE’s Self-Generation Program, which includes projects in gas-based generation, renewable energy, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
A Forward-Looking Framework for Energy Excellence
As part of the agreement, both entities will evaluate potential project locations, investment models, and financing frameworks tailored to support long-term power resilience.
ePointZero and its affiliates are also expected to bring cutting-edge technologies, engineering expertise, and advanced equipment to ensure seamless integration with the UAE’s national grid.
Leaders Emphasise Impact on Efficiency and Decarbonisation
Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of EtihadWE, described the MoU as a major milestone in modernising the region’s energy landscape.
He said the partnership would “advance a more reliable and sustainable power system across the Emirates” by driving decarbonisation, improving operational efficiency, and securing a stable energy supply for generations to come.
Echoing this vision, Mohamed Hesham, CEO of ePointZero, highlighted the opportunity to redefine how energy generation, storage, and transmission interact.
He noted that the collaboration will “build a new model for energy resilience — one that strengthens local capacity while enabling sustainable growth for the communities we serve.”
Pathway to Joint Development
Project execution under this partnership will be spearheaded by Emirates Utilities Development Company (EUDC), EtihadWE’s infrastructure development arm.
Following comprehensive feasibility studies and due diligence, the MoU could advance into a Joint Development Agreement, paving the way for structured investments and full-scale project implementation.
A Strategic Boost to the UAE’s Net-Zero Vision
The EtihadWE–ePointZero alliance reinforces the UAE’s commitment to energy innovation and carbon reduction, while also ensuring that the Northern Emirates benefit from a more resilient, future-ready power ecosystem.
The partnership supports national goals to diversify energy sources and accelerate the adoption of advanced clean technologies — a critical component of the UAE’s long-term sustainability strategy.
