AJi, the region’s leading architecture, engineering, project management, and consultancy group, has launched its second Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, underscoring its long-term commitment to sustainability, transparency, and responsible business practices.

Building on the momentum of its inaugural report released two years ago, the 2024 ESG Report highlights measurable progress across AJi’s operations in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Jordan, and other regional markets. The report reflects how sustainability is being increasingly embedded into the company’s strategy, operations, and leadership culture.

Measurable Environmental Progress

The latest report details tangible environmental gains achieved over the past two years. AJi recorded a 16% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2022 baseline, alongside a 25% decrease in electricity intensity per employee, even as the company expanded its regional footprint.

For the first time, AJi has also broadened its reporting scope to include Scope 3 emissions, covering indirect impacts such as supply chains, business travel, and employee commuting. With this expansion, the company reported total emissions of 1,687 tCO₂e across all offices—marking a significant step toward greater transparency and accountability.

Advancing People, Inclusion, and Capability

The ESG Report also showcases steady progress in workforce growth and inclusion. Since 2022, AJi’s workforce has expanded by 36%, with women now accounting for 17% of employees, up from 13% in the inaugural report.

AJi retained its “Great Place to Work” certification and strengthened its focus on talent development. Over the reporting period, the company delivered more than 2,300 hours of training for female employees and 1,500+ hours of learning for staff in Saudi Arabia, supported by new leadership and professional development programmes.

Stronger Governance and Clear Future Targets

On governance, AJi conducted its first formal materiality assessment in line with GRI Standards, identifying key ESG priorities such as energy management, human capital development, labour standards compliance, and anti-corruption practices. These insights will shape AJi’s sustainability roadmap in the years ahead.

Looking forward, the company has set ambitious targets, including achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2027 and implementing water and waste monitoring protocols across all offices by 2026.

Leadership Perspective

Commenting on the release, Eng. Hamzeh Awwad, Chief Executive Officer of AJi, said:
“The launch of our second ESG Report marks an important milestone in our sustainability journey. It reflects our continuous efforts to embed responsibility, accountability, and innovation at the core of our business. As a proudly regional company, we view sustainability as a shared purpose—one that ensures lasting impact for our people, partners, and communities. This report reinforces our dedication to building a more resilient and inclusive future.”

Driving Regional Sustainability Leadership

Through its evolving ESG programme, AJi continues to strengthen its position as a regional leader in sustainable design, infrastructure development, and ethical business practices.

By prioritising transparency and collaboration across the private sector, the company aims to inspire wider participation in the region’s sustainability transformation and contribute meaningfully to the long-term development visions of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Jordan.
