Nations Must Commit to More Ambitious Emission Reduction Targets: UNFCCC

Ahead of the UN Climate Change conference COP27 in November, countries must scale up finances to support Nations most affected by climate impacts

There is no country on Earth that is not already feeling the impacts of the Climate Crisis.

A major report published by the IPCC earlier this year assessed the impacts of climate change on ecosystems, biodiversity, and human communities at the global and regional levels, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) stated.

"The outcome is clear, while we are already feeling the consequences of a warming planet, impacts will accelerate with every additional bit of global warming," UNFCCC said.

This is why the 2020s are so decisive for the global fight against Climate Change. "If we halve emissions by the end of the decade and keep the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C goal within reach, we can still avert the worst climate impacts."

But the window for action is rapidly closing.

"Ahead of the UN Climate Change conference COP27 in Egypt in November, countries must commit to more ambitious emission reduction targets and scale up finance to support countries most affected by climate impacts," the UNFCCC further stated.
