Nature, Wildlife and Community Under the Stars: Brand Dubai Curates an Immersive Hatta Camping Experience
As part of the Hatta Festival 2025, Brand Dubai—the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office—organised a distinctive camping experience in the Hatta Mountains, bringing together participants of all ages for a rich programme of outdoor exploration, learning and cultural engagement.
The initiative aimed to strengthen community bonds, promote environmental awareness, and spotlight Dubai’s diverse natural and tourism landscapes.
Exploring the Hatta Mountains and Local Wildlife
The experience began near Suhaila Lakes, where more than 50 participants gathered for a guided hiking session led by environmental researcher Sultan Al Balushi. The walk offered insights into the region’s unique geology, native wildlife and fragile ecosystems, reinforcing sustainability values and a deeper appreciation of nature among participants.
Stargazing, Heritage and the Night Sky
As dusk settled over the mountains, campers set up tents along the lakeshore before attending an interactive astronomy session featuring visual presentations and a star-identification challenge. The evening continued with a live stargazing experience led by Emirati photographer Yousef Al Qasimi, who shared stories of ancestral navigation traditions and the cultural significance of stars—blending science, heritage and storytelling under Hatta’s clear skies.
Documenting Nature Through Wildlife Photography
Wildlife and photography enthusiasts joined a specialised documentation session conducted by professional Emirati photographer Abdulla Alhattawi. Participants learned to identify native bird and animal species and were introduced to professional techniques for capturing wildlife ethically and creatively, producing images that reflected Hatta’s raw beauty and biodiversity.
Promoting Sustainable Tourism and Local Exploration
The camping experience is part of the broader #DubaiDestinations campaign, which highlights Dubai’s natural assets and encourages eco-tourism and sustainable lifestyles. Through immersive, community-driven experiences like this, Brand Dubai continues to position the emirate as a global destination that values nature, culture and responsible tourism alongside modern living.
