Transitioning to Sustainable Practices Needs to go in Parallel with Growth

AD Ports Group is on a huge growth trajectory and we are enabling & empowering nations to expand: David Gatward

During the first session of the recently held Sustainability Middle East - Future of Sustainability Conference, AD Ports Group's Chief Engineering & Technical Services Officer David Gatward highlighted the significance of adoption of sustainable practices in tandem with growth.

To a question posed by the Host and Moderator of the Session, Karl W. Feilder on the effectiveness of De-growth as a strategy, Gatward termed it to be a very ‘interesting concept’.

"We recently went publicly listed and we have been everything we can be domestically and now we are going global. So now, we are on a huge growth trajectory," Gatward added.

He said that the opportunities for efficiency in our day-to-day practices are huge. In addition, the conversion to more sustainable and efficient practices have to be taken in parallel with growth.

Gatward added: "We develop trade routes - we are actually enabling and empowering nations to expand, because ports are gateways to other countries and facilitate expansion.

"It has to be done cautiously and in a very considerate manner, embracing all the topics that we are talking about."
