Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, has returned from a three-day trip to Goa, India, where he attended a number of high-level conferences targeted at advancing the goals of the Paris Agreement's energy transformation agenda.

The visit was a component of the UAE's teamwork-based strategy for addressing global issues and promoting sustainable development. Al Mazrouei used the trip as an opportunity to emphasise the UAE's unwavering dedication to a strong energy transition.

The G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting, in which energy ministers from the G20 and other invited nations participated to solve energy transition concerns while achieving collective socioeconomic growth, was the focus of the Minister's visit.

Al Mazrouei stated in his statement that the UAE aims to serve as an example of an ambitious yet practical transition to sustainable energy sources. While making significant investments in tomorrow's clean energy systems, we continue to address the world's energy demands today.

The 14th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and 8th Mission Innovation (MI) sessions were conducted in Goa concurrently with the G20 meetings with the theme "Advancing Clean Energy Together." The UAE's priorities for the next Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) were underscored by Al Mazrouei during his participation in the CEM/MI joint session.

Al Mazrouei also took part in a closed-door Roundtable on Green Hydrogen that set strategies to increase the supply and demand for green hydrogen and to identify short- and long-term objectives and activities to scale up the contribution of green hydrogen in the transition to net-zero emissions.

The Minister emphasised that the world's agenda now places a high importance on developing the global hydrogen economy and described the objectives of the recently unveiled National Hydrogen Strategy.
