DP World Intermodal Introduces Emission-free Deliveries via 40-tonne E-trucks

The DP World E-trucks will run on green electricity and have a range of up to 400 km

DP World Intermodal has taken delivery of three 40-tonne E-trucks. This makes DP World Intermodal one of the first companies in Germany to offer zero emission door-delivery via such heavy-duty E-trucks.

In this way, DP World Intermodal can meet customers’ increasing demand for sustainable logistics solutions.

The use of E-trucks is part of DP World's plans to cut carbon emissions from its operations by nearly 700,000 tonnes over the next five years. The reduction represents a 20% cut from 2021 levels, through electrifying assets, investing in renewable power and exploring alternative fuels.

In the longer term, DP World aims to be a carbon neutral business by 2040 and has a clear roadmap to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 across its entire global network.

"The new 40-tonne E-trucks are a valuable addition to our existing trucking fleet that already included LNG trucks," said Jens Langer, CEO Germany.

"We are proud that, as an inland terminal network, we can offer this zero-emission door delivery to our customers and thus contribute to a better future for everyone."

The DP World E-trucks will run on green electricity and have a range of up to 400 km. They are ideally suited for emission-free and low-noise deliveries in and around the regions of Baden Württemberg and Rheinland Pfalz but will initially be deployed in the Stuttgart and Black Forrest areas.
