Volvo Trucks Unveils 14-Tonne Volvo FL Electric: A Purpose-Built Solution for City Logistics
Volvo Trucks has expanded its electric portfolio with the launch of a new 14-tonne version of the Volvo FL Electric, designed specifically to meet the growing demand for clean, efficient urban transportation.
The new model introduces a lighter entry-level configuration with an optimized battery pack, offering operators the perfect balance between payload and range.
Volvo to Launch Electric Truck with 600 Km Range
The Volvo FL platform was among the company’s earliest trucks to transition to an all-electric driveline, and it quickly became a favourite for city logistics thanks to its compact footprint, quiet operation, and zero tailpipe emissions.
The latest 14-tonne variant builds on this legacy with greater flexibility and enhanced maneuverability—crucial advantages for businesses navigating dense urban landscapes.
“This is a perfect inner-city workhorse with no tailpipe emissions,” says Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management at Volvo Trucks.
“We are always there to help our customers find the best electric truck for their business. You should only buy as much battery capacity as you need for the task to maximize productivity in terms of payload capacity and profitability.”
Flexible Configurations for Every Urban Use Case
The new model comes with multiple wheelbase, axle, and battery options, allowing operators to customize the vehicle for last-mile deliveries, municipal services, or specialized logistics. The battery packs are designed and positioned to avoid interference with body installations, ensuring seamless integration for various applications.
A narrower vehicle width option—as little as 2.4 meters—further enhances agility in tight city corridors. The new batteries introduced in this truck are also compatible across several FL and FE Electric variants, supporting a wide range of gross combination weights from 14 tonnes up to 26 tonnes.
Growing Global Footprint
Volvo’s electric FL and FE trucks have been available since 2019 and are now on the roads across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia. With eight battery-electric truck models in production and over 5,000 units sold worldwide, Volvo Trucks continues to strengthen its leadership in zero-emission transport.
