Amazon UAE Launches Citywide Packaging Recycling Drive with 150+ Drop-Off Points Across Dubai
In a major step toward sustainable commerce, Amazon UAE has unveiled a new packaging recycling program offering customers more than 150 easy-access drop-off locations across Dubai.
The initiative, launched in partnership with Enviroserve, a Dubai Municipality and Ministry of Environment-certified recycling partner, aims to make it easier for residents to recycle Amazon.ae packaging responsibly.
Aligned with the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030 and Amazon’s global commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, the program encourages customers to recycle materials such as cardboard boxes, plastic and bubble-lined mailers, and packing paper.
Customers can conveniently locate their nearest drop-off point by scanning a QR code printed on Amazon.ae packages. The code directs them to Amazon’s Second Chance page, which serves as a one-stop hub for recycling information — from packaging to electronics and end-of-life product management.
The initiative’s broader goal is to keep materials circulating within the economy while diverting waste from landfills.
To enhance convenience, Amazon has strategically placed these drop-off points across residential and commercial areas, including community villas and townhouses, ensuring easy access for thousands of customers in Dubai.
“This program makes it easier for customers to recycle packaging while supporting the UAE’s sustainability goals,” said Prashant Saran, Director of Operations for Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. “By pioneering this service, we’re helping to build the infrastructure for responsible waste management in the region.”
Echoing this commitment, Shashidhar Y. S., Board Member and Managing Director at Enviroserve, added, “Together with Amazon, we are making recycling more accessible to communities while supporting the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030. Responsible collection and processing of packaging help keep valuable resources in circulation.”
This initiative builds on Amazon’s broader sustainability actions, including machine learning models that optimize box sizing, reduce excess material, and initiatives like Ships in Product Packaging, which eliminate the need for secondary packaging altogether.
By extending its sustainability roadmap to include customer participation, Amazon UAE is not only advancing its corporate responsibility goals but also empowering communities to play an active role in environmental conservation.
