EcoWASTE Exhibition and Forum to kick off in Abu Dhabi in January 2023
EcoWASTE Exhibition and Forum is set to kick off in January 2023 as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which runs from 16 to 18 January 2023.
EcoWASTE, organized with the strategic partnership of the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer), will be hosted at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The exhibition will explore the GCC’s efforts towards a circular economy, highlighting the role of the emirate of Abu Dhabi in achieving this.
It will also be an opportunity for participants to learn about the GCC’s innovative approach to sustainable waste management, and game-changing solutions to address the waste dilemma in the MENA region.
The World Bank estimates that the region’s waste dilemma will double to 255 million tonnes a year by 2050 amid ongoing urbanisation across the Arabian Gulf.
EcoWASTE will shed light on circular economy-based revenue streams and investment opportunities for existing businesses and start-ups across multiple sectors.
The Forum will host panel discussions that deep dive into disruptive approaches to create new value from waste, technology for waste management, landfill diversion strategies, waste-to-energy studies, the end of single-use plastics and improved waste management techniques.
Eng Ali Al Dhaheri, Acting Director General of Tadweer said: “EcoWASTE Exhibition and Forum is a platform which unites local, regional and global experts in multiple sectors including, waste management, recycling, reusing, re-manufacturing and waste-to-energy."
Al Dhaheri added: “While the MENA region faces some challenges in the waste management sector, we continue to leverage on key opportunities that will in return contribute to the circular economy of Abu Dhabi and the region.”
Tadweer will showcase the best practices of its sustainability initiatives, including state-of-the-art hazardous waste treatment, replacing waste bins, launching electronic auctions for selling recyclable waste, and supporting residential recycling and agricultural collection points.
The Company will also display products made from recycled demolition and construction waste, in addition to agricultural and animal waste.
The Company will organize a panel discussion during the exhibition under the title ‘Women in the Field of Sustainable Waste Management’, which will highlight its efforts in educating youths on waste management, as well as the importance of sustainable practices in waste management.
Tadweer’s platform at EcoWASTE will witness the signing of a set of memorandums of understanding and strategic agreements with leading local and international entities in the industry.
This supports the Company’s projects and its efforts to raise awareness and spread knowledge on the environment, community and occupational health and safety, which contributes to enhancing its services as well as the services provided by local municipalities, stakeholders and partners.
The EcoWASTE Exhibition & Forum is organized with the strategic partnership of the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer) during the World Future Energy Summit, which is hosted by Masdar as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
