The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) took part in the 11th World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Conference on Weather Modification, held from 2 to 7 November 2025 at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune, India.

The high-level gathering brought together leading international scientists and experts to discuss the latest scientific advances and future technologies in weather modification.

During the conference, Alya Al Mazrouei, Director of UAEREP and Director of the Research and Weather Enhancement Department, delivered a key presentation in a session titled “Precipitation Enhancement Studies in Deep Convective Clouds.”

Her address offered a comprehensive overview of UAEREP’s research journey, outlining its strategic vision, technology platforms, key achievements, award-winning projects, and the programme’s roadmap for future development.

UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Climate Resilience

His Excellency Dr Abdulla Al Mandous, President of the World Meteorological Organization and Director General of the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology, said the UAE’s participation underlines its long-term commitment to advancing weather modification science.

He noted that strengthening cooperation with the global scientific community is essential to supporting climate resilience efforts and developing innovative solutions that mitigate climate risks while ensuring a secure and sustainable water future.

Alya Al Mazrouei highlighted the significance of UAEREP’s contribution, saying that the conference provided a valuable platform to share insights gained from nearly a decade of dedicated research and international collaboration.

The 11th WMO Conference centred on cutting-edge themes including observational studies and field campaigns, laboratory research in cloud physics and seeding, numerical modelling and verification methods, and emerging technologies in seeding platforms, materials, and delivery systems.
