DHL Wins Sustainable Logistics Solution of the Year

SME News Service

DHL has won the Sustainable Logistics Solution of the Year Award at the recent SME Sustainability Awards. The award was created to recognise the company that has monitored its supply chain and greenified it simultaneously.

Sustainable logistics describes all attempts to measure and minimize the ecological impact of logistical operations, and as DHL has set a target to lower the company's carbon footprint to below 29 million tonnes by 2030 and aims at achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, it was a shoe-in for this prize.

DHL has launched an EV hub where batteries can be stored, repaired, recycled, and processed, with this the company is helping to create a circular EV economy.

After receiving the award, Mary Oxley, VP Marketing & Sales - Middle East & Africa at DHL said that the biggest sustainability issue today is the speed at which supply chains are being decarbonised.

Ms Oxley added: "At DHL, we have a commitment of Zero Emissions by 2050. In 2021, we released our latest roadmap on sustainability, where we made a commitment to invest 7 billion euros by 2030, with intent to reduce carbon emissions under 29 million tonnes.

"We will do this by setting sustainable initiative targets. At DHL we aim to burn clean or burn less, as we optimise the ability to burn clean, we now need to focus on the adoption of more sustainable fuels. The time to decarbonise is now."
