Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre is organising a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Training Programme in collaboration with the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to global best practices in sustainability and corporate transparency.

The programme is designed to help professionals and organisations understand the principles, methodologies and practical application of sustainability reporting, ensuring alignment with internationally recognised GRI Standards. These standards provide a structured framework for transparent, integrated reporting across environmental, social and economic dimensions, meeting rising accountability expectations from investors, regulators, customers and communities.

Building Capacity Across Disciplines

The training targets professionals with a strong interest in sustainability from diverse backgrounds, including engineering, environmental studies, natural sciences and business, equipping them with the tools needed to embed sustainability into organisational decision-making and reporting.

DEWA’s Leadership in GRI Reporting

GRI is globally recognised as the leading framework for reporting economic, social and environmental performance. DEWA is a member of the GRI Gold Community and ranks among the first 100 organisations worldwide to adopt the updated global sustainability reporting standards, beginning with its fourth Sustainability Report in 2016.

Since 2013, DEWA has published 12 Sustainability Reports in line with GRI Standards, relevant institutional disclosure requirements and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrating sustained leadership in transparent reporting.

WGEO is also GRI-accredited to deliver certified training programmes, further strengthening the initiative’s global credibility.

Advancing Transparency and ESG Integration

The programme supports DEWA and WGEO’s shared commitment to advancing sustainability and transparency, while reinforcing core GRI reporting principles such as accuracy, balance, clarity, comparability, completeness, timeliness, context and verification.

Participants completing the course will gain advanced practical skills to:

  • Apply the GRI Standards framework effectively

  • Identify and report material sustainability topics

  • Strengthen stakeholder engagement through transparent disclosure

  • Integrate sustainability into core business strategy and governance

  • Produce clear, comprehensive reports aligned with global ESG expectations

Through initiatives such as this, DEWA continues to position itself at the forefront of sustainability leadership, supporting organisations and professionals in delivering credible, high-quality sustainability reporting aligned with international best practices.
