Nextpower Arabia Secures First Landmark Deal to Supply 2.25 GW of Solar Trackers for Saudi Bisha Project

Localized manufacturing to support ACWA Power–led Bisha Solar Plant under Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program

Nextpower Arabia has marked a major milestone with its first flagship project, announcing it will supply 2.25 GWp of advanced smart solar tracking systems to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the Bisha Solar Project in Saudi Arabia.

The project—one of the largest utility-scale solar developments in the Kingdom—is being built by an ACWA Power–led consortium after procurement by the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) under Wave 6 of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), overseen by the Ministry of Energy.

A cornerstone project for Nextpower Arabia

Located in Asir Province, Bisha is the largest project awarded in Wave 6 and a significant addition to Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding renewable energy portfolio. The 2.25 GWp order is also the first major project to be delivered through Nextpower Arabia, the newly formed joint venture between Nextpower (Nasdaq: NXT, formerly Nextracker) and Abunayyan Holding, which is now fully operational.

Through localized sales, manufacturing, delivery and supply chain operations, Nextpower Arabia aims to accelerate the deployment of utility-scale solar while supporting industrial development and workforce growth across the MENA region.

Localized production to drive efficiency and resilience

By manufacturing solar tracker systems within the Kingdom, Nextpower Arabia will help reduce logistics complexity, lower costs and minimize the environmental impact of international shipping—while strengthening Saudi Arabia’s domestic renewable energy supply chain.

Bharathi Kumar, General Manager (Renewable International) at L&T, said the company has strong confidence in Nextpower Arabia’s ability to deliver long-term value:

“Localizing the production of these systems will deliver greater efficiencies throughout the development process while reducing the cost and impact of international shipping, enabling us to deliver maximum performance and low-cost clean energy from the Bisha Solar Plant.”

Supporting Saudi Arabia’s energy transition

Dan Shugar, Founder and CEO of Nextpower, described the project as a strategic milestone for the company’s regional ambitions:

“The MENA region is a top strategic priority for Nextpower. This project builds on our longstanding partnerships with ACWA Power and L&T and marks an important step forward for our joint venture with Abunayyan Holding. We are localizing the industry’s most resilient and intelligent solar technologies, engineered for the region’s demanding conditions.”

Turki Al-Amri, Chairman and CEO of Nextpower Arabia and CEO of Abunayyan Holding, added:

“By manufacturing Nextpower Arabia systems in the Kingdom, we are delivering tangible benefits for our partners while advancing Saudi Arabia’s national industrialization and renewable energy objectives.”

Building momentum across the Kingdom

The Bisha project follows ACWA Power’s recent announcement—alongside Badeel and Saudi Aramco Power Company (SAPCO)—of an $8.3 billion investment to develop seven large-scale renewable projects, adding nearly 15 GW of clean energy capacity to Saudi Arabia’s grid.

Nextpower brings a strong regional track record, having supported major solar developments since the 405 MW Sakaka Solar Park in 2018, with deployments now exceeding 6 GW across the MENA region.

With Bisha, Nextpower Arabia positions itself at the center of Saudi Arabia’s clean energy expansion—combining scale, localization and technology to help power the Kingdom’s transition to a low-carbon future.
