The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence and data science in advancing rain enhancement technologies during its participation in the First International Conference on AI and Data Science Applications and Advances (ICADAA 2025), held at Emirates Aviation University in Dubai.

The conference brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals to explore how AI and advanced data technologies can help solve complex real-world challenges across multiple sectors.

AI at the Heart of Next-Generation Rain Enhancement

Alya Al Mazrouei, Director of UAEREP and Director of Research and Weather Enhancement at the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), delivered a keynote address underscoring the transformative impact of AI on rain enhancement science. She shared insights into UAEREP’s achievements, awardee projects, scientific contributions, global collaborations, and the technological ecosystem enabling cutting-edge atmospheric research.

Advancing Water Security Through Innovation

His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, President of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Director General of NCM, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to harnessing emerging technologies for global water resilience.
He stated:
“Through UAEREP, NCM is integrating meteorological science with AI and data-driven solutions to tackle global water security challenges in alignment with the UAE’s climate resilience objectives. By working with leading experts and institutions, we aim to deliver innovative, science-based approaches that strengthen climate resilience and support sustainable development worldwide.”

Alya Al Mazrouei added:
“UAEREP’s participation at ICADAA illustrated how AI and data science are reshaping rain enhancement research. Advanced forecasting, cloud microphysics modeling, and data-driven interventions are enabling more effective and sustainable water management solutions for arid and semi-arid regions.”
