In a major step toward reshaping global vehicle trade, AD Ports Group and SPG Yantai Port have signed a preliminary agreement to jointly develop green automotive industrial parks — a move that blends sustainability, technology, and strategic connectivity.
The collaboration seeks to unlock a China–Middle East–Africa automotive corridor, strengthening trade flows and establishing a carbon-conscious supply chain for both new and pre-owned vehicles.
By uniting China’s position as the world’s largest automotive producer and exporter with Abu Dhabi’s strategic role as a logistics and energy hub, the two sides aim to transform vehicle logistics into a pillar of circular economy growth.
A Strategic Bridge Between Asia and the Middle East
Under the proposed framework, the partners will jointly explore the development and operation of an integrated bilateral terminal and automotive hub network.
This network would connect the Asia-Pacific Green Automotive Circular Economy Industrial Park in Yantai, Shandong, to AD Ports Group’s advanced automotive terminals and logistics hubs in the UAE — extending further into key African and MENA markets.
The outcome: a seamless, efficient supply chain that strengthens trade resilience while reducing environmental impact.
Innovation and Sustainability at the Core
The planned auto hubs will go far beyond traditional port infrastructure. They will integrate AI-driven technologies to optimize logistics, streamline processing, and improve cost efficiency.
Equally important is the commitment to sustainable energy use. Leveraging SPG Yantai Port’s advanced clean energy capabilities and AD Ports Group’s strategic positioning in one of the world’s most dynamic energy markets, the collaboration will explore renewable power integration and smart infrastructure deployment.
This initiative mirrors a growing trend in green logistics, where automation and decarbonisation are no longer optional — they’re strategic imperatives.
A Vision Rooted in Partnership
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of Maritime and Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, emphasized the transformative nature of the alliance: “Building on our longstanding relationship with SPG Yantai Port, this strategic agreement reflects our shared vision for strengthening trade and logistics links between China, the UAE and wider global markets.
"The development of integrated green automotive industrial parks will elevate Abu Dhabi’s role as a key hub for the automotive market — contributing to economic diversification, supporting a circular economy, and creating sustainable value across Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.”
The collaboration builds on years of cooperation and complements both nations’ broader ambitions under the Belt and Road Initiative and UAE’s trade diversification agenda.
Strategic Synergy for Global Growth
The partnership between SPG Yantai Port — a major government-owned enterprise in China’s Shandong province — and AD Ports Group, one of the UAE’s leading global trade enablers, represents strategic synergy in port operations, logistics networks, and market connectivity.
By combining operational expertise, geographic advantage, and shared sustainability goals, the alliance promises to accelerate automotive trade flows, deepen China–UAE economic cooperation, and inject new vitality into green industrial development worldwide.
